Ready to explore the writer in you?
You’ve got a story to tell, but you just can’t seem to get it out. It hits you when you least expect it: the longing to sit down and write. But how do you get started? And how do you decide what idea is worth writing about?
Attending a Write Now Retreat means giving yourself and that voice in your head a chance to explore what your heart already knows: you’re a writer.
It’s time to get the words out of your head and onto the page.
That’s what this weekend is for.

No experience necessary. Bring your idea and your voice.

What is The Write Now Retreat?
The Write Now Retreat is a small, intimate virtual weekend experience for aspiring writers who are ready to stop thinking about their book and start actually writing it.
This isn’t a prescription method to get your book finished. It’s a safe space to help you get started. Choose a genre and book topic. Outline some ideas. Get words on the page during dedicated writing sessions. Get coached on areas where you’re struggling. Walk away having started your book. For real.
Genres, Topics, Outlines
Explore how to choose a genre and topic and write without a strict outline. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start.
Practice Writing
Focus your writing efforts with prompts, brainstorming sessions and co-working opportunities to write in a supported community.
Overcome Writer’s Block
Don’t let hesitation get in the way of your ideas coming to life. Gentle, guided activities help you focus on what matters.
Support when you need it
Get group and 1:1 coaching during the weekend to help you get clear on what you want out of your book and what others can get out of it too.
How the Weekend Works
Every Write Now Retreat is built around three things new writers need most. With a maximum 10 participants, every retreat looks like this:
Unlock what’s been holding you back by making decisions based on your writing ideas, interests and goals. Let go of perfectionism and learn how to start putting words on the page without judgment.
Work on developing writing practices that will help you map your characters, major problems and desired outcomes. Let go of rigid writing rules and start to see your ideas come to life.
Finish the weekend strong by deciding what’s next for your story, map out a plan to keep writing and focus on strategies that will help the words come easier without the pressure of speed and deadlines.
The Write Now Retreat is Not…
With guided activities and prompts, writing sessions and simple strategies to help you write, this isn’t an intense or fast-paced workshop. It’s a retreat-style, no-pressure, creative-focused weekend.
There are no systems, processes or frameworks to learn or follow. This is a deep and honest exploration of your writing through writing. You’ll implement practices and learn how to make them stick.
There’s no prize for writing fast or slow. Bring your ideas and give them a chance to see the light of day. You don’t need any experience to benefit from the experience of writing. You’ll learn how to get started and go from there.
Meet your writing coach
Heather Deveaux
I’ve written and published 7 romance novels, including 2 complete trilogies, and 5 non-fiction titles over the last decade. I’m also a certified coach, trainer, and facilitator with a Master of Adult Education degree, which means I know how to meet you where you are, support you along the way, and give you what you need to succeed.
While other people will tell you that writing is a talent you’re born with, I know it’s a skill you can learn. I know how to help you begin and I can show you how to keep the momentum going without getting down on yourself for thinking you have a creativity problem.
My approach is simple: writing is problem solving. I’ll show you how to think about it that way—and you’ll wonder why you ever thought you couldn’t write a book.

That book isn’t going to write itself.
Come spend a weekend with a small group of people who get it, guided by someone who has done it twelve times and knows exactly how to help you find your voice and begin.
