From the Back Cover

Quitting is never the way to get ahead in life. And yet, as entrepreneurs we constantly walk the tight rope of forging ahead, swords held high, ready to fight the good fight and embracing the fetal position as another Facebook ads campaign bleeds money. But what if I told you that it didn’t matter what was going on in your business, you could find a way forward? What if I told you that it’s not the cranky client or the lack of money or the rejection email on a Friday afternoon that is causing you to fret? What if I told you that it was one thought in your mind that’s actually stopping you from having everything you want in your business?

It’s not easy, but you’re an entrepreneur. You’ve signed up for one of the hardest things in the world and yet, you expect it to be easier. You expect to have all the answers and feel shame when you don’t. Why is that?

Sharing part stories and part confessions, Heather Deveaux shares her unique flavour of truth bombs about the entrepreneurial world and what it really takes to go from idea to unexpected success, even though you were hoping for that success all along.

We have both the privilege and the burden of getting to make decisions that can change our lives

What’s Inside?

Quitting is never the answer to getting ahead…unless it is. As the queen of burning it down to build it back up, Heather shares stories of why it’s okay to let go of things to make room for new things in your life.

The only job in the world where “no experience necessary” is a badge of honor. But that’s not always a good thing. Grab the sample chapter above to read more.

A candid look at entitlement and how you can stop complaining about the thing you built with your own two hands.

The grass isn’t always greener, as they say. In this chapter, you’ll read about how important it is to stop chasing rainbows and plant your feet firmly on the ground.

A continuation of the conversation in chapter two, chapter five focuses on the importance of learning as you go and not underestimating what you already have in your toolkit.

A hilarious conversation about being the owner of wild animals, AKA your business, and trying to keep those animals alive: AKA your revenue.

The truth about how much you work when you run a business and why you think you shouldn’t have to work so much.

Singing this song since the beginning, Heather shares insights about how to balance being a business owner with being the talent.

Time to face the music: things don’t always work out the way you want, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. This chapter focuses on how to dig into the good and move through the noise of what you thought was going to happen.

Why are we building businesses that look like the jobs we hated in corporate? This chapter explores building your own ladder to reach a platform that means something to you instead of trying to climb ladders other people deem appropriate for you.

The story doesn’t end. And why it’s important to recognize that done is never really done.
