Our Instructional Design Services: How it Works
1. Research
The first phase of our instructional design services is all about getting into the minds of the students or customers who will take your online course. During the discovery phase, we’ll gather data, interview customers, and conduct research to support the development of your new online course. If you’re a subject matter expert, we’ll work closely with you to ensure your voice, ideas, and intellectual property are visible.

The key to creating an exceptional online learning experience is mapping out where you want to take your students and customers. If you’re looking to develop an internal training program, you need to identify the purpose of that training program and highlight the key objectives and outcomes. But don’t worry, we do all of that for you. Our full-service instructional design packages mean you don’t have to do any of the heavy lifting.
During phase two of our instructional design process, we’ll use the research, insight, and data captured in phase one to build you a custom course outline complete with learning objectives and outcomes to match your needs and the needs of your students. You’ll have the opportunity to weigh in on what stays and what goes so that your new online course is fully customized to your vision. Then, we’ll take the outline you’ve approved and begin the development phase.
3. Develop
During phase three, we’ll write your curriculum draft, assign activities to outcomes, and ensure an action-biased approach so that your students don’t spend all day looking at a video. We bring action into every course we create so that your students can walk away knowing how to use the new information to do something they couldn’t do before, be something they’ve always wanted to be, or achieve something that felt out of reach. You’ll be able to review the curriculum draft and provide your own edits so the course looks and feels like you.

Once you’ve returned the recommended edits to us, we’ll begin developing your learning management system so that your students can access your new online course. If you prefer to upload the content yourself, that works too. But as a full-service instructional design firm, we can manage each step so that when we return your finished online course to you, you can begin delivering or selling it right away.
During phase four, we’ll collect any videos you wanted to record, or we can provide animations for your courses (where applicable) and upload them to your learning management system. Whether you have your own LMS or you want us to set one up for you, this stage of the process means your new online course is almost ready!
