Art by Heather Deveaux
“You used to draw all the time,” my mother has said to me more times than I can count. But then life got busy, and little by little, it became a chore to make room for the things I loved doing.
Making room for what you love is what life is supposed to be about. So, I’m making room for it now.
This is where I share my art: original pieces, works in progress, and the stories behind them. Each one is part of an evolving practice rooted in simplicity, curiosity, and experimentation.
I’m not chasing perfection here. I’m just leaning into what I’ve been wanting to do all along.
If something speaks to you, please share it or consider inviting it into your home.

The One I Would Want
by Heather Deveaux
The first piece in the Unscale Collection, “The One I Would Want” explores the moment when creative instinct overrides the original plan and where tension in decision-making meets the desire to do something else. What began as an idea for someone else transformed into something deeply personal: an intuitive, layered work built from texture, movement, and intention. It’s a visual reminder of what happens when we let go of what we think we should make, and instead, make what we truly want to see in the world.

Making, Not Fixing
by Heather Deveaux
This piece emerged in quiet defiance of utility. Where the first painting challenged expectation, this one completely stepped away from it. “Making, Not Fixing” is a visual meditation on creating without solving to allow beauty, expression, and presence to exist without purpose. I love this because it leans into softness, spaciousness, and intuitive motion. This is what happens when we stop producing and start practicing. When the goal is not to repair, impress, or resolve, we get to witness where our ideas will lead.
