The One I Would Want
by Heather Deveaux
The first piece in The Unscaled Collection, “The One I Would Want” explores the moment when creative instinct overrides the original plan and where tension in decision-making meets the desire to do something else. What began as an idea for someone else transformed into something deeply personal: an intuitive, layered work built from texture, movement, and intention. It’s a visual reminder of what happens when we let go of what we think we should make, and instead, make what we truly want to see in the world.

Making, Not Fixing
by Heather Deveaux
This piece emerged in quiet defiance of utility. Where the first painting challenged expectation, this one completely stepped away from it. “Making, Not Fixing” is a visual meditation on creating without solving to allow beauty, expression, and presence to exist without purpose. I love this because it leans into softness, spaciousness, and intuitive motion. This is what happens when we stop producing and start practising. When the goal is not to repair, impress, or resolve, we get to witness where our ideas will lead.

Unbecoming
by Heather Deveaux
The third piece in The Unscaled Collection represents what it means to defy the “supposed to” messages we receive from ourselves and others. We don’t have to follow the rules, and yet, we work so hard to make sure our lives are up to par, aligning to the expectations of others. This piece reminds me that even if you start out on one path, you can always turn around and go in a different direction and if you don’t like what you see, you can change it again and again.
